Board-Certified Prosthodontist

Dr. Daniel Ben Yehuda

Advanced prosthodontic, implant, denture, and restorative care at St. Joseph Advanced Dental Center.

Dr. Ben Yehuda focuses on restoring and replacing teeth through individualized planning that considers the patient’s remaining teeth, bone, gums, bite, smile, function, health history, hygiene needs, and priorities.

Specialty training in restoring and replacing teeth

Dr. Ben Yehuda earned a European Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in Valencia, Spain, and later earned an American DDS degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. He then completed a three-year postdoctoral prosthodontics residency at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, earning a Certificate in Prosthodontics and a Master of Science in Dental Research.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. Board certification requires a formal examination process and ongoing recertification. His training centers on diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation, and maintenance when teeth or oral structures are missing or compromised.

Implant and full-arch planning

Dr. Ben Yehuda plans dental implant restorations around the intended final teeth, including bite, smile line, speech, facial support, restorative space, hygiene access, temporary teeth, final materials, and maintenance.

Dentures and implant dentures

Removable dentures, implant overdentures, and fixed full-arch teeth solve different problems. The design should reflect anatomy, function, cleaning ability, expectations, and the complete treatment sequence.

Complex restorative care

His prosthodontic focus includes crowns, bridges, bite reconstruction, esthetic rehabilitation, and full-mouth treatment when multiple teeth and materials must work together.

Digital dental technology

The practice describes using guided implant surgery, digital workflows, and dental photogrammetry where appropriate to support diagnosis, planning, and restorative coordination.

Academic and clinical background

Before focusing fully on private practice, Dr. Ben Yehuda spent four years at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. His roles included full-time Clinical Professor, Chair of the Implant Committee, and Interim Vice-Chair of the Department of Restorative Clinical Sciences. He also treated patients through the UMKC Faculty Practice and served as the school’s representative for the International Team for Implantology.

Dr. Ben Yehuda has published in the Journal of Prosthodontics and the Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry and has presented at the Academy of Osseointegration. Having lived in multiple countries, he speaks English, Italian, Spanish, and Hebrew.

What to expect from a consultation

A complex restorative consultation begins with listening. Dr. Ben Yehuda reviews what is uncomfortable now, which foods or activities have become difficult, how the patient feels about removable versus fixed teeth, and what a successful result would need to accomplish. The clinical evaluation then considers the condition and prognosis of the remaining teeth, periodontal health, available bone and restorative space, bite relationships, smile and facial support, and relevant medical or healing risks.

Appropriate imaging and digital records help connect those findings to the proposed restoration. The resulting discussion may include preserving selected teeth, crowns or bridges, a conventional or implant-supported denture, fixed full-arch teeth, or a staged combination of treatments. Patients should understand which phase each provider is responsible for, what temporary teeth may be used, what limitations apply during healing, and how maintenance and repairs will be handled after treatment.

Dr. Ben Yehuda’s goal is to explain the tradeoffs in plain language so that the patient can compare realistic options rather than being pushed toward a preset package. Treatment timing, sedation, surgery, provisional teeth, and final materials are discussed only in the context of the individual diagnosis.

A prosthodontic consultation is a planning visit, not a preset package. The goal is to determine which teeth can reasonably be maintained, what replacement options fit the diagnosis, whether other providers should participate, and how the restoration will be cleaned and maintained. No specific implant count, same-day sequence, or outcome is appropriate for every patient.
